Sweetness and Sorrow

sweetnesssorrowWhen we look deeply at both the joyful and darker times in our lives, we see that both elements exist in one another. In fact, one aspect seems to enhance the other, both by giving us hope and also by helping us to appreciate our good fortune. Reads, "Every sweet has its sour; every evil its good."

The quotation is an adaptation of a verse by Ralph Waldo Everson in which I've substituted the word "sorrow" for "sour." For me, the exchange lends itself to a more emotional feel, which I hope to have expressed in this piece, albeit playfully.

What I learned from this project? That I continue to love dolls and can't wait to make more projects in this style! Also I enjoy using a concept {and product} that transforms a massed-produced product into a hand-made creation to portray a concept.
